Richard Streatfeild MBE: change you can trust

Campaigning to beat the Tories in Sevenoaks and Swanley

Richard Streatfeild is ready to make history – by becoming the first non-Conservative to represent in the Sevenoaks Constituency (including Swanley and Westerham) in 100 years.

He’s local, his family have lived in the area more than 500 years and, after a career in the British Army, he returned here to start his family.

He’s a former Major, who served in Bosnia, Kosovo, Northern Ireland and Afghanistan, for which he received an MBE from The Queen.

He says: “When I was in the Army, I was proud to serve my country. Now, I’m angry at what the last 14 long years of Conservative rule has done to our country and its people”.

Since he left the Army, Richard has run a local business, hosting weddings and other events. He’s also served as Chairman of his Parish Council as well as being a Sevenoaks District and Kent County councillor.

Richard says: “I’ve been so encouraged by what we’ve been hearing on the doorsteps – that people are sick of these current Tories and what they have done and are doing.

The current member of Parliament has voted time and again for measures which have made the country, and the constituency, poorer and less equal.

She has been part of a government that is responsible for bringing the NHS to its knees and pumping pure sewage into our rivers and seas.

I promise to serve Sevenoaks and Swanley and be the voice of all those who have been ignored for too long.
