Show your support for our Sevenoaks Minor Injuries Unit
From: Cllr Merilyn Canet
We read scary reports of the difficulties faced by people trying to get treatment, some for minor problems, but needing help.
In Sevenoaks we still have a small community Hospital with a Minor Injuries Unit which is open for longer hours than some GP surgeries.
This friendly and easily accessible clinic would surely be able to relieve some of the pressure on the Accident and Emergency departments at the large general hospitals. These are difficult to reach without a car anyway.
Sevenoaks Minor Injuries Unit is close to the Northern ward that I represent and where many people live, including families with children, some with no car.
Surely we need to think about keeping services close to the people who may need to use them? Many common ailments may have simple solutions. The complex accidents and emergencies will still go to one of the large general hospitals - maybe then they will have the space to cope.
Please can your readers contact me if they want to keep Sevenoaks Hospital Minor Injuries Unit and other services local?
We can then contact the overworked people trying to make the NHS work for us. More money into the NHS needs to work smarter for all of us.
